Synopsis:

Paul et Adriana sont mariés depuis dix ans et ont une petite fille de 8 ans, Mara. Depuis six mois, Paul entretient une liaison extraconjugale avec Raluca, dentiste.

Paul, qui essaie de partager les quelques jours précédant Noël entre Raluca, la recherche des cadeaux et les soirées en famille, décide de faire une dernière visite avec Mara au cabinet de Raluca. Un imprévu dans l'emploi du temps d'Adriana fait que les deux femmes se rencontrent pour la première fois. Sans donner lieu à une confrontation, cette rencontre met Paul face à un choix difficile.

Résumé :

Della et Jim sont jeunes mariés et s'installent dans leur nouvel appartement. Noël approche et chacun se demande ce qu'il offrira à ses proches. Jim retape depuis toujours une vieille Chevrolet, et Della est passionnée par son appareil photo reflex. Les tourtereaux ont l'intention de s'offrir des cadeaux en rapport avec leur passion respective, mais leur voiture est volée, et pour en acquérir une nouvelle, ils promettent de ne rien s'acheter à Noël. Pourtant, en cachette l'un de l'autre, chacun travaille deux fois plus pour offrir le cadeau espéré...

Plot :

An amateur photographer, Della focuses her prized, but well worn, Nikon 35mm camera on reluctant Jim, persuading him to pose with his beloved, but dilapidated ’55 Chevy Bel Air convertible. Della longs for a professional zoom lens to take better pictures of the man she loves. Camera-shy Jim sits in the Chevy pretending to drive, but his four-wheel antique has no steering wheel. He can buy parts at the junkyard, but more than anything, Jim is passionate to own the original steering wheel.

 Isabella Caldwell a décidé de faire le tour du monde avec sa fille Tilly. "An Old Fashioned Thanksgiving" is the story of a young woman searching for her true path amidst a holiday season of desicions and discoveries and is based on an 1881 short story by American author and poet, Louisa May Alcott.

Disturbed by the financial strains her family has endured following the death of her father, 17 year old Tilly (Tatiana Maslany), a headstrong young woman, with a keen intellect, writes a letter to her grandmother Isabella Caldwell (Jacqueline Bisset), whom she has never met. In fact, Tilly's mother Mary (Helene Joy), has rarely spoken of her. In the letter to Isabella, Tilly pretends to be Mary, and begs for financial assistance. Mary is soon shocked to come face-to-face with her estranged, high society mother from New York. Isabella recounts the letter, which Mary immediately realizes has been written wholly out of Tilly's imagination and concern for the family…
