Le Dr Anna Waters, jeune biologiste de l’Institut marin de Bay Cove, travaille sur un procédé pour inverser le blanchissement des coraux. Dans l’espoir d’obtenir un siège au sein du comité de l’institut, elle doit faire financer son projet « Sauvons le récif » en le présentant à une commission municipale. Elle va alors devoir collaborer avec Liam Smith, ancien champion de surf reconverti par dépit en moniteur de plongée, pour convaincre cent habitants de venir soutenir le projet de sauvegarde le jour de l’audience.

Résumé
Atteinte d’endométriose, rien ne garantie à Zoé de pouvoir avoir un enfant, un jour. Malgré son célibat, elle décide d’avoir recours à une insémination artificielle pour augmenter ses chances et cela fonctionne. Elle tombe enceinte dès le premier essai, ce qui va radicalement bouleverser sa vie. Côté professionnel, cette publicitaire réputée accepte d’aider le bad boy Emmett Carmichael à redorer son image auprès du public, à condition qu’il l’accompagne aux cours de préparation à l’accouchement. D’abord réticent, Emmett finit par se prêter au jeu. Alors qu’il commence à s’attacher à Zoé, celle-ci tombe par hasard sur Rob, qui l’invite à sortir.
